If you’ve ever listened to a Bible prophecy teacher, you’ve probably noticed one thing almost immediately:
Israel is almost always at the center of the discussion.

Why does such a small nation occupy such a significant place in biblical prophecy? Why do conflicts involving Israel consistently capture the world’s attention? And why should Christians today care about what happens in Jerusalem?

It is where Solomon built the Temple.

The Bible indicates that it will continue to play a central role as history moves toward its climax.
Should Christians Support Israel?
This is an important question—and one that deserves a thoughtful answer.
The Bible calls believers to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) and to recognize God’s faithfulness to His promises.
At the same time, supporting God’s purposes for Israel does not require endorsing every decision made by the modern Israeli government.
Like every nation, Israel is led by imperfect people and remains accountable to God.
Christians should avoid viewing current political events through a purely partisan lens. Instead, we should evaluate them through the teachings of Scripture, pray for peace, justice, and wisdom, and remember that both Jews and Gentiles need the saving grace found only in Jesus Christ.
Avoiding Two Common Errors
When studying Israel in prophecy, believers should avoid two extremes.
The first is ignoring Israel altogether, as though the nation no longer has any place in God’s prophetic plan.
The second is treating every event involving Israel as the direct fulfillment of prophecy.
The Bible encourages neither approach.
Instead, we are called to study God’s Word carefully, interpret prophecy responsibly, and distinguish between what Scripture clearly teaches and what remains a matter of interpretation.
What Israel Teaches Us About God
Israel’s story is ultimately a story about God’s faithfulness.
Throughout history, Israel experienced blessing, discipline, exile, restoration, and continued preservation.
Despite centuries of opposition, the Jewish people have endured.
For Christians, this serves as a powerful reminder that God keeps His promises.
The same God who remained faithful to His covenant promises throughout history will also fulfill every promise He has made concerning the return of Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and the establishment of His eternal kingdom.
Final Thoughts
Israel matters because God chose to accomplish His redemptive purposes through this nation.
Through Israel came the Scriptures.
Through Israel came the prophets.
Through Israel came the Messiah.
And according to many prophecies, Israel will continue to play a significant role as God’s plan for history reaches its fulfillment.
As believers, we should neither ignore Israel nor become consumed by speculation.
Instead, we should study the Scriptures carefully, pray for the peace of Jerusalem, share the gospel with both Jew and Gentile, and place our ultimate hope not in any earthly nation but in Jesus Christ—the King of kings who will one day reign from Jerusalem and establish a kingdom of perfect righteousness and peace.
